Celebrating International Women in Engineering Day

Today, we’re proud to celebrate #INWED25 by highlighting the perspective of Penelope Fosbrook, P.Eng, one of the newest members of the Juno Engineering team and a 20-year industry veteran.

Penelope’s path into engineering began with curiosity, a love for building things, and a strong role model – her mom. “My mom worked in the world of engineering, and I really enjoyed math and science in high school, so pursuing a career in engineering felt like a natural fit.”

Reflecting on her career to date, she recognizes the importance of self-awareness, continuous learning, and community. Her advice to the next generation, both men and women alike, is: “Focus on learning as much as possible, as that will build your confidence. Be self-aware, as it’s crucial to know your strengths and weaknesses. Lean into those strengths and team up with those who complement your weaknesses. Engineering is a team environment.”

Today, it’s the constant evolution of the field that keeps her engaged. As Penelope puts it, “There’s always more to learn, amazing things to build, and great people to work with.” And while she’s seen meaningful change over the years, she believes there’s still work to do.

“Female presence in the boardroom still needs improvement, as it’s common for me to be the only woman at the table. Similarly, I am grateful to all the mentors who have supported my career, but they’ve all been male. Real progress would include more female mentorship.”

At Juno, we’re committed to helping build that future – one where curiosity, inclusion, and mentorship open doors for all.
